| Sumario: | The thesis explores all the ways Sound is affecting the Image in the audiovisual domain, focusing on the perceptual transformations and the different levels of production of meaning due to the use of sound. It is based --and continues and expands-- in Michel Chion´s theory of Audiovision, but also on Peirce Semiotics --through Guerri´s semiotic nonagon-- and on elements of Analytical Philosophy of Sound. Sound is expressed as Music, Noise, and Voice/Word, and there are chapters developing the different ways Music, Noise, and Voice/Word affect the perception of image. Sound as material --Timbre in all its possibilities-- is also considered, and the materiality of sound is also explored and in which ways influences the narrative, as it is explained in detail through the first three films by Lucrecia Martel. Finally, the thesis proposes different elements to transform and expand film analysis, and a new way to deal with the relationship of film Music and the film edit. All the topics are demonstrated through numerous examples -around 600- taken from films, series, and animation. |
