|a La importancia otorgada al Patrimonio Territorial como concepto integrador de los elementos cualitativos que configuran una realidad espacial, y al tiempo como factor de desarrollo y como fundamento de la cultura en la que asienta la personalidad de un territorio, justifica la necesidad de profundizar desde la perspectiva científica en el análisis y la interpretación de sus grandes potencialidades. Se trata así de contribuir a despejar las incógnitas surgidas a la hora de evaluar sus implicaciones en la transformación de las estructuras territoriales, así como el alcance y el impacto de las estrategias aplicadas a su conservación y aprovechamiento, debido a los resultados ambivalentes que el conocimiento empírico ofrece. Situados ante un concepto abierto al debate, a la clarificación de estrategias y al reconocimiento de las lecciones extraídas de la experiencia comparada, la aplicación del enfoque geográfico se muestra tan pertinente como útil a la hora de esclarecer el significado de las tendencias observadas en un panorama tan complejo estructuralmente como decisivo desde el punto de vista espacial.
